My BLOG is now a PHOTOBLOG! http://zirenphoto.aminus3.com

| Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Haha evenings everyone.

The end of the year is closing in, I definitely haven't forgotten about this blog at Blogspot.
My blog was intended to be a photoblog, which records my progress in the eternal journey of photography. However, don't you think the thumbnails for each picture is a little... Unsuitable? So I spent much time finding a decent photoblog host, and decided on Aminus3 Photoblogs.
With Aminus3, my pictures are enlarged and they're clearer, and the best thing is, the photos are the main objects in the page. Great, eh?
Do visit my new photoblog, it's revamped: better photos, bigger photos! http://zirenphoto.aminus3.com

I'll probably cease uploading of new photos here, don't worry, it'll never stop. It's just a matter of hosts. Probably I'll stay with Aminus3!

One of the last times,

Yours sincerely,
Ziren!

| Thursday, July 30, 2009

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the long wait, there's some problem with my computer. This post is published from the school's computer, during Art Lesson :\

This could very well be my first ever photoshopped poster. It was meant for a Computer Studies Project TOpic: CYber Bullying :D Gtg next lesson

Help! Problem with Blogger, or me?

| Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Hi All!

I was wondering, how come I can't upload photos through the usual photo tab, and why is my font stuck at Lucinda Console? Maybe I'm in HTML mode. How to I revert to the idiot proof method? Gosh, please help.

Help,
Ziren - Steven

Title Bar Revamp :D

| Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Hi everyone,

After much comments by my classmates and other fellow bloggers, I've decided to use one of my first pictures taken as a school photographer, covering an event. It's taken during Tennis Championships, and the highlight of this picture is obviously the two little kids :D I'm sure you realised that one of them is exceptionally tall, while the other is exceptionally short. Ironic! D:
Oh yeah, just for your information, I completed this is school, during computer studies lesson. I'm Photoshopping when we're supposed to Dreamweave. At least better than my classmates who go Facebooking or Youtubing lols. I do tabbed browsing too to Facebook :D
Do tell me how I can upgrade on this site, making it more interesting and appealing to the eye. I don't really know HTML, don't mention building a site from scratch!

Raffles at Dusk

| Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Hi everyone!

As promised, I got this shot of our school clocktower during dusk. (Look at the clock, it's 7.20am!) Love that layer of clouds that seemed to dwindle as it approached us. And the Sun.

Raffles at Noon

| Thursday, July 9, 2009

My two friends strolling side-by-side to the Raffles Canteen. I was lucky to find a time when this parade square ("Raffles Square" -.-) wasn't crowded. Most of the time, it's only deserted when it rains. There wouldn't be clouds then.
One Raffles - Auspicium Melioris Aevi! =D
I'll get a picture of this scene at dusk, I'll upload it soon!

Gymnastics - Somersault

| Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Hi All!

For people in school, you should know that this is published slightly past schedule. It was taken on RI Open House (19th May)! I was armed to the teeth before going on a treacherous mission - to snap some photos of the event for five hours.
No regrets at all - the time was spent well enough.
Beside our Photography Club booth was the Gymnastics booth, which covered an area of more than 8 of our photo club booths pieced together! (Hmph! Maybe some exaggeration) I spammed the shutter release button of the the school's 400D long enough, and for many times. Wonder who that guy is, eh?

Ziren - Steven

P.S. Michael, do you do this kinda thing? I would love to see you doing this! =D

Lonely at Dusk

| Monday, July 6, 2009

Hi All!

Recently, I realised the convenience of using a camera phone to capture interesting shots of daily life. My phone is a 3.2 MP Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman phone. 3.2MP, 5MP... I'm sure they don't make much of a difference!
Okay, now to the picture.
This was taken at dusk (or was it dawn?), when I was about to board the bus at a bus stop near Hougang Point. It all seems so empty, and when there's people, they're moody. It seems as if this sign post was moody too. There're some distracting parts at the corners of this picture though. I'm ready to airbrush them out! =D

Monkey Montage!

|

I was in Macritchie Reservoir the other day, trekking along this route by the reservoir. Then I saw these group of monkeys... And they posed! It's heartwarming to see that these monkeys aren't afraid of us humans any more, minding their own business regardless of the presence of us. However, friendship does come at a price. These monkeys are quite infamous for upholding an reputation of abducting small children and snatching their snacks! Maybe my flashgun could protect me in case of a monkey attack!

Glowing in the Dark

| Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Hi everyone!

Firstly, I have to say I'm extremely sorry about the quality of these photos when they are enlarged. They tend to get pixelated! Blame Google Picasa that squeezed these 1.6MB photos to 57kb... I've learnt my lesson this time. Do you have any other idiot-free photo editing program (not as time-costing as Photoshop!) to recommend, that is free? Please drop a note! I'm desperate for something that doesn't squeeze my photos, but still corrects the exposure, contrast etc. Thanks!
Now, for the picture. This picture was captured under a transparent glass dome! As the sunlight shone onto these plastic chairs, the brightness contrast was strong between these chairs and the background = Chairs shone under spotlight, "glowing in the dark"?

Where the Dragonfly lands

|

This little one was captured under the blazing Sun during an annual inter-school Track and Field meet. Our little friend was resting it's wings (definitely not its legs) on the tip of the flagpole where the race ends. Certainly it's as tired as those sprinters out there.
Rare to see dragonflies loafing around in stadiums, well, at least in where I live. In fact, dragonflies usually only loaf around in parks here.

Fogged Out!

| Friday, June 26, 2009

This wasn't taken from some creepy abandoned mansion lying there in some deserted down, waiting to be demolished. In fact, this was taken at 9am on a densely populated tiny town lying on a renowned mountain in what we know as China. Notice that this place is a Four-Star hotel, just one of the two in the town. (There were no Five- Star ones!) 9am, still so fogged out. Can't even make out the details of a tree nearby!

Ramdom Overly-Photoshopped Flower!

| Thursday, June 25, 2009

This flower sort of stood out when I glanced at a thorny bush. It was the only flower left standing! Its vibrant colours certainly attracted my attention. I was on a school trip that day, and not much time was left. I just withdrew my 400D (school's) and snapped the shot with Prime Lens, without thinking twice. When I reached home, I Photoshopped it. Wow I added so many unnecessary effects. Please comment on how I can make this better...

黄龙潭,庐山,China

| Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Hi All,

Sorry for the lenghthy delay of posts! I went for a holiday in China for around 3 weeks. Well, I delayed posting stuff here back in Singapore then as I felt that I had more than enough time to do so in China. Unfortunately, Blogger was blocked by the Chinese Government. All Chinese IPs were unable to access Blogger blogs! Yeh, you can say I was pissed off. So many travel pictures laid there in my thumbdrive, waiting to be uploaded. But i jsut can't. Twitter and Youtube were blocked too!
Anyway, now that I'm back I'll spare time to upload my favourite travel pictures. These were taken on LuShan, a famous mountain in China that had much bigger waterfalls than these! (If they were classified as one...) Some were far, and others didn't even have water in them during certain seasons of the year! Unbelievable, yes.
Well, I got this shot of a puny water stream after a 3-hour hike. Of course, there were many more. Critiques out there, I'm counting on you! xD

Steven (Ziren)

- Sorry for the lenghthy downtime! :)
